Bob Marley Quote
“Only once in your life, I truly believe, you find someone who can completely turn your world around. You tell them things that you’ve never shared with another soul and they absorb everything you say and actually want to hear more. You share hopes for the future, dreams that will never come true, goals that were never achieved and the many disappointments life has thrown at you. When something wonderful happens, you can’t wait to tell them about it, knowing they will share in your excitement. They are not embarrassed to cry with you when you are hurting or laugh with you when you make a fool of yourself. Never do they hurt your feelings or make you feel like you are not good enough, but rather they build you up and show you the things about yourself that make you special and even beautiful. There is never any pressure, jealousy or competition but only a quiet calmness when they are around. You can be yourself and not worry about what they will think of you because they love you for who you are. The things that seem insignificant to most people such as a note, song or walk become invaluable treasures kept safe in your heart to cherish forever. Memories of your childhood come back and are so clear and vivid it’s like being young again. Colours seem brighter and more brilliant. Laughter seems part of daily life where before it was infrequent or didn’t exist at all. A phone call or two during the day helps to get you through a long day’s work and always brings a smile to your face. In their presence, there’s no need for continuous conversation, but you find you’re quite content in just having them nearby. Things that never interested you before become fascinating because you know they are important to this person who is so special to you. You think of this person on every occasion and in everything you do. Simple things bring them to mind like a pale blue sky, gentle wind or even a storm cloud on the horizon. You open your heart knowing that there’s a chance it may be broken one day and in opening your heart, you experience a love and joy that you never dreamed possible. You find that being vulnerable is the only way to allow your heart to feel true pleasure that’s so real it scares you. You find strength in knowing you have a true friend and possibly a soul mate who will remain loyal to the end. Life seems completely different, exciting and worthwhile. Your only hope and security is in knowing that they are a part of your life.”

Do not be too timid and squeamish about your actions. All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better. What if they are a little course, and you may get your coat soiled or torn? What if you do fail, and get fairly rolled in the dirt once or twice. Up again, you shall never be so afraid of a tumble.

“Warp speed ahead, Mr. Spock” – Capt. James T. Kirk of starship Enterprise.

It was late last night and I was driving. As usual my mind started wandering and after a while it rested on thoughts of human achievement and then as I glanced at the clock it said 11:59 PM. The first thing that came to mind is that we have just 24 hours left on the Mission: Small Business. With a team effort we have already qualified to remain as a contender in this challenge, leading in the healthcare category for the grand prize of $250,000. We were not only able to exceed our required 250 votes but also support our partner VIP Doctors & Patients in this round.

Our minds are an amazing creation (and I choose to use the word “mind” intentionally “ instead of “brain” – that’s different discussion altogether).

What can you do in the next 24 Hours to make a difference?

So getting back to my drive, my mind finally rested on the thought of human accomplishment and specifically examples of feats accomplished in a 24 hours period. For the last two hours I have been immersed in looking up and reading on incredible feats accomplished by individuals and teams alike. When it comes to accomplishments Guinesss World Records is an obvious place to start. (Note, the word “book” is now missing from its name):http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/Search.aspx?q=24+hours

  • Jeff Ondash, 51, of Canfield, Ohio, has embraced the Valentine’s Day spirit faster than anyone before, giving 7,777 hugs in 24 hours, raising money for the American Heart Association, and setting the new world record for the Most Hugs Given in 24 Hours.
  • The Women’s world record on Track is held by Mami Kudo (JPN) who ran 254.425 km/158.126 miles in Taipei, TAIWAN Dec. 2009.
  • The most push ups completed in 24 hours was 46,001 by Charles Servizio (USA) in Fontana, California, USA, on 24-25 April 1993.
  • The greatest distance covered under sail in 24 hours is 766.8 nautical (1,420.1 km; 882.4 miles) by the 36.5-m (120-ft) maxi catamaran Orange II captained by Bruno Peyron (France), during the fastest crossing of the Atlantic between 2-7 July 2006. The average speed was 31.95 knots ( 59 km/h or 36.7 mph).
  • The most tattoos in 24 hours by a single artist is 801 and was achieved by Hollis Cantrell (USA) at Artistic Tattoo in Phoenix, Arizona, USA, on 16 November 2008.
  • The most trees planted in 24 hours by a team of 300 people is 611,137 and was achieved by the District Administration of Dungarpur (India) at village Khemaru, village panchayat Gadamoriya, Dungarpur, India, from 11 to 12 August 2009. Beginning at 7:15 p.m. on 11 August, participants dug holes for the trees through the night and began planting at sunrise at 6 a.m. the following morning. The trees planted were of species native to the region, mostly fruits and vegetables for consumption by the local population.
  • The most “likes” on a Facebook page in 24 hours was 2,047,058 by Farmers Insurance (USA), on 22-23 June 2011.  Farmers Insurance ran a promotion with Zynga. Throughout the day this promotion ultimately resulted in 6 million views.
  • For the auto racing fans amongst us LeMans is an amazing race of endurance. The person that won Baja 1000 in 1967 took 28:48 and 2011 winner took away the trophy in 14:14:25.

Then there are other significant events in history that changed the course of the world for example, D-day on June 6th 1944 and the list goes on. If there is an example you’d like to share please post it as a comment below.

Anyhow, as you look through the list some may appear mundane and you may say “WHY would anyone even attempt it?” or “it’s ridiculous or stupid” or “I could have done that!” However the point is that it was important enough for someone to pursue despite the odds they may have faced.

There is a common underlying theme in all accomplishments whether they were completed in 24 hours or a lifetime. PASSION is the key to success which leads to human achievement, ignites the fire within us  and serves as a conduit to PERSEVRANCE and ultimately SUCCESS.

LIVE a passionate life!
